Step 1: Click on Networks
The network logo will be at the bottom right corner of the screen. If you have connected the computer to the WiFi, then this logo will be a signal. If you have connected to the LAN network, a computer logo will be shown.

Step 2: Select Network & Internet Settings
When you click on the Network logo, a new system tray will be launch with all the available WiFi networks or the name of the network you are connected to. Below that, you will see the Network & Internet settings button.

Step 3: Click Change connection properties
The previous step opens up the Settings page with the Status tab selected. From the status tab, click on the Change connection properties.

Step 4: Scroll Down
Scroll to the bottom to find the required settings to keep the metered connection ON.

Step 5: Keep the Metered Connection ON
Just enable the settings to save your connection as a metered one.

Metered connection: If you have a limited data plan and want more control over data usage, make your connection a metered network. Some apps might work differently to reduce data usage when you’re connected to this network.
The metered connection also pauses the OneDrive sync to limit the data usage. It helps to stop the windows update to continue. If you still want to enable the usage of data for particular applications, you can choose to do so for example by resuming the OneDrive or updating the windows.
